The Bracknell Bees are pleased to announce a new addition to their 2017/18 National Ice Hockey League Division 1 South side for the upcoming season.

Twenty Five year old, Guildford born, forward Callum Best joins the club having the majority of the last four seasons in NIHL1 South with the Streatham Redskins.

Starting his career with the Guildford junior organisation with the U16 Firestars and U18 Phoenix Callum linked up with the EPIHL Flames in 2008/09 for a season split with the U18 Phoenix.   The following season he split the season between the Slough Jets and ourselves here at the Bracknell Bees, icing in thirty-eight games in the Black, White & Gold, that same season he was selected for the GB U18’s World Championship squad.  A move down the M3 in 2009 saw Callum in the Basingstoke Bison colours for a full season in the EPIHL before re-joining the Slough Jets, at ENL level a year later.   Part way through that season a move to the Invicta Dynamos, where he stayed for the remainder of that season and the next, was next.   In time for the start of the 2013/14 season Best swapped the Dynamos for Streatham, where he has been (with the exception of a brief spell with his home town EPIHL Guildford Flames two seasons ago) since.

In 2014/15 Callum was the leading scorer in the NIHL Div1 South and was voted onto the league All Star Team, for the second time in two seasons, and also picked up the Pro Hockey News League Player of the Season award.

With over 200 ENL/NIHL appearances, in which he has scored over 150 goals and nearly 200 assists, as well as over 150 EPIHL appearances and having represented Team GB U18’s the highly rated centreman boasts a great deal of experience and the Bracknell Bees are delighted to have secured his highly sought after services for the upcoming season.

Bracknell Bees Head Coach Scott Spearing said of the newest addition to the Bees line-up:
"“Besty was one of my first signings when I took the job on this year. When he we spoke it was a no brainer. He has a great character in the room but also is a proven top centre men that is diverse and can put the puck in the net as well as making plays. He has played on some great teams at EPIHL level in the past and I will look to him to bring the winning mentality that this team will have next year.“

As in previous seasons we are happy to announce that Callum's jerseys will be available as part of our 2017-18 Own & Loan Jersey scheme (full details available HERE) please email us at beesownandloan@gmail.com with the details of the jersey you are interested in.

All shirts are sold on a first come, first served basis and the process is that you “own” the jersey and “loan” it back to the player for the season to wear. The jersey will then be presented to the owner at the end of the season at a time and date to be arranged.
