Festive Period Preview - Weeks 15 & 16

posted 20 Dec 2017, 23:59 by john slater

The Bracknell Bees have once again just the one game in their fifteenth weekend of regular season NIHL Div1 South action this coming weekend.   Their sole game this time out is a road NIHL National Cup Group D game away at their local M3 rivals the Basingstoke Bison this coming Saturday 23rd December (6.30pm faceoff).

Last weekend the Bees only had one game, on the road to Streatham IHC and for the second time in two weeks the Bees headed home having been defeated by the South London side despite a valiant short handed effort from those players available.

The last time the Bees faced the Bison in Basingstoke was back on the 25th November when the Hampshire side defeated the Bees by six goals to one.   In the other two matches between the sides so far this season the Bees won one and lost out after overtime in the other.   With local bragging rights also up for grabs and a number of players having iced for both teams in their careers the game is sure to be a feisty and fierce encounter.   We hope to see a good travelling support on Saturday to help cheer the guys on.

The Bees then return to The Hive on Wednesday 27th Dec (6pm face-off) in a Charity challenge match, in aid of Orchid Cancer Charity, in which they face the Bracknell Hornets - full details of the match & evening are available HERE

The sixteenth weekend of regular season action gets underway at The Hive on Saturday 30th December (6pm faceoff) as the Bees welcome another of their local rivals, this time their M4 neighbours, the Swindon Wildcats.  The match is the Bees penultimate National Cup Group D match and on New Years Day the Bees make the short trip to Swindon to take on the Wildcats in their final Cup Group game in their first match of 2018 (faceoff 4pm).

The two sides have already met twice in the Cup with the Wiltshire side having picked up both wins, although on their last visit to The Hive the Wildcats were pushed all the way by the homeside Bees.   With the rivalry that has built up over recent seasons between these two sides the games are sure to be tight and physical matches and the Bees will be looking to start the New Year with a bang!

The club would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year and we hope to see you at The Hive on the 27th and 30th Dec, on the road to Basingstoke on the 23rd Dec and away to Swindon on New Years Day!
