Weekend Preview - Week 1

posted 7 Sep 2017, 10:03 by john slater

This coming weekend the Bracknell Bees finally get their 201-18 regular season underway after a busy off-season both on and off the ice.

Following last weekends pre-season M4 Derby series matches against their local rivals the Swindon Wildcats, in which each team won it's home leg by two goals and saw the series tied at seven goals a piece after the two legs, the Bees will be looking to get their season off with a bang when they travel to Milton Keynes on Saturday for their only game of the weekend, faceoff 7pm.

Last weekend the Thunder played a one-off pres-season home match against the Bristol Pitbulls from NIHL Div2 South and ran out comfortable winners by thirteen goals to one.   The new look Thunder, with at least tweleve new signings this season, spread the goals around with nine different goal scorers for an impressive pre-season opening and ex-Bee Rio Grinnell-Parke scooped the Man of the Match award in his Thunder debut.

With the Thunder line-up boasting no less than six ex-Bees players both teams are unusually familiar with each other and with both sides looking to get their season off to a winning start a tense match is assured so we hope to see a good turnout of Bees fans to back the boys!
