Weekend Preview - Week 11

posted 22 Nov 2017, 13:34 by john slater

The eleventh weekend of regular season action for the Bracknell Bees sees them once again with a two game weekend.   This weekend the Bees are engaged in two local derby National Cup Group D match-ups. The weekend gets underway as the Bees make the trip along the M3 to Basingstoke to face the Bison (faceoff 6.30pm) before returning home to The Hive on Sunday to welcome the Swindon Wildcats (faceoff 6pm).

Last week the Bees fell to two defeats at the hands of the Invicta Dynamos and Peterborough Phantoms, in two league games and will be looking to try to get back to their form from earlier in the season this weekend as they look to try to pick up points in their National Cup Group games to keep them in with a chance of progressing
further in the National Cup.

The Bees find themselves at the bottom of their National Cup group and need points from this weekends games to keep the National Cup alive for them.   The two games this weekend however will be another two tough match-ups for the Bees.   The Basingstoke Bison have been in good form of late with ten wins from their last twelve matches, ironically the two losses coming in cup competitions.   So far this season the Bees have lost the two games in which they have faced the Bison but both defeats were narrow and one was after overtime so another tight and tense game is expected between these two local rivals.

On Sunday the Bees will take on the Swindon Wildcats who have also been in good form with only three losses in their last fifteen games.   The Wildcats also top the National Cup Group D table so the Bees will have another tough task on their hands as they face their M4 rivals at The Hive this Sunday.   The two sides faced each other once already this season with the Wildcats running out winners at the Link Centre in Swindon in late October where the Swindon side picked up the win.

The Bees will be looking to dig deep to turn their current run of form around as they take on their two local rivals this weekend.

At Sundays home game we are also pleased to welcome the Bracknell Fusion Junior Synchronised Ice Skating team to The Hive, they will be providing period break entertainment at tonight’s game and we thank them for their support.

We hope to see a good home support from the Bees fans and look forward to welcoming the Swindon Wildcats fans to The Hive and with that in mind we have some key points for new visiting fans to please note for Bees games:

  • There is an “away” section in Block 2 downstairs where away fans tend to congregate and sit together however you are welcome to purchase tickets through the rink reception on the match night or by calling 01344 789000 for seats in the upper balcony area.   You will need to specify at the time of purchase.
  • Most of the balcony blocks have a large amount of season ticket seats within them that are already reserved so please be aware of this when taking your seat, if you are sitting in a season ticket holder seat without the ticket for that seat you will be asked to move to the correct seat.
  •  It should be noted too, that due to the license held by the rink, that although alcohol is sold in The Bees Knees bar it can only be taken out to the seated balcony area and is not permitted downstairs within the rink at all.
  • The rink is also a no smoking building so you will need to leave by the front door during period breaks if you wish to smoke and you will need your ticket to regain entry.
  • The other general rink rules such as no flash photography, waiting for a break in play before moving around the rink, no foul or abusive language etc.… are, as with all rinks, also in place.
  • Our Supporters Club run a merchandise stall in the main foyer and upstairs at the back of Block 5 (opposite the bar) there is also the Supporters Club shop.   Merchandise, programmes, 50/50 tickets etc. are all available at these two locations on a match nights
