Weekend Preview - Week 22

posted 15 Feb 2018, 13:29 by john slater

For the twenty-second weekend of regular season action the Bracknell Bees take on the Basingstoke Bison and Peterborough Phantoms, in NIHL Division 1 South league matches.   The action gets underway on Saturday 17th February as the Bees make the short trip along the M3 to Basingstoke to face the their local rivals the Bison (6.30pm face-off) before heading back to The Hive on Sunday to face the Peterborough Phantoms (6pm face-off.

Saturday sees the Bees head to Basingstoke to face the league leading Bison for the last time this regular season.   In the six previous league and cup meetings so far this season the Bison have won five of the matches but the Bees did pick up a road win in Basingstoke in late September.   The sides last met in early January at The Hive where the Bison rna out winners by the odd goal in five.   Sitting top of the league table and having lost only one game in their last twelve the Bison will certainly prove a tough test for the Bees and with so many players having played for both teams over time there will be more than just local bragging rights up for grabs!

The Peterborough Phantoms are the visitors to The Hive on Sunday when they visit for the fourth and final regular season game between the two sides.   The Cambridgeshire side have won the three previous encounters between the sides but were pushed all the way by the Bees when the sides met last weekend - the Phantoms needing overtime and penalty shots to overcome the Berkshire side.   The Phantoms sit second in the league, tied on points with league leaders Basingstoke Bison.   Having lost only one of their last eight league games, ironically against the Bees opponents this Saturday the Basingstoke Bison.   Tthe Phantoms are also sure to prove a tough opposition for the Bees as Bees and Phantoms fans will also be aware that the Peterborough side have been somewhat of a bogey team for the Bees over the last few seasons with the Bracknell side only managing a couple of wins over the Phantoms in that time.   The Bees will however be buoyed by last weekends performace in Peterborough and will be looking for more of the same this Sunday at The Hive!

Due to a safety concern and in the interests of our spectators, the upstairs seating areas behind the goals through to the “red icing line” will be closed whilst hockey is being played.   Block 1 and Block 5 will be completely closed and partial closure of Block 2 (seats 70-74, rows D–G), Block 4 (seats 164-167, rows D-G,) Block 6 (seats 240-255, rows D,E,F ) and Block 8 (seats 385 -398, rows D,E,F).  For full details please see full release HERE

We hope to see a good home support from the Bees fans and look forward to welcoming the Peterborough Phantoms fans to The Hive and with that in mind we have some key points for new visiting fans to please note for Bees games:

  • There is an “away” section in Block 2 downstairs where away fans tend to congregate and sit together however you are welcome to purchase tickets through the rink reception on the match night or by calling 01344 789000 for seats in the upper balcony area.   You will need to specify at the time of purchase.
  • Most of the balcony blocks have a large amount of season ticket seats within them that are already reserved so please be aware of this when taking your seat, if you are sitting in a season ticket holder seat without the ticket for that seat you will be asked to move to the correct seat.
  •  It should be noted too, that due to the license held by the rink, that although alcohol is sold in The Bees Knees bar it can only be taken out to the seated balcony area and is not permitted downstairs within the rink at all.
  • The rink is also a no smoking building so you will need to leave by the front door during period breaks if you wish to smoke and you will need your ticket to regain entry.
  • The other general rink rules such as no flash photography, waiting for a break in play before moving around the rink, no foul or abusive language etc.… are, as with all rinks, also in place.
  • Our Supporters Club run a merchandise stall in the main foyer and in the club shop at the front of the rink.   Merchandise, programmes, 50/50 tickets etc. are all available at these two locations on a match nights
