Weekend Preview - Week 3

posted 21 Sep 2017, 12:35 by john slater

The third weekend of regular season action for the Bracknell Bees sees them with a day off on Saturday before returning to The Hive on Sunday for their only game of the weekend.

A tough weekend last time out saw the Bees lose out narrowly in both games over the weekend, first on the road away to the Peterborough Phantoms and then at home to their local rivals the Basingstoke Bison.

This Sunday at The Hive the Bees will be facing the Cardiff Fire for the first time ever.   The Welsh side having formed in 2015-16 and entering their fourth season as back to back NIHL2 South West Champions are in their first season in the NIHL1 South the Fire also lost both of their opening weekend matches.

A 1-4 defeat on home ice on Saturday against the Invicta Dynamos before a heavy 9-2 road loss to Streatham IHC on Sunday.   Before heading to The Hive this Sunday the Fire also welcome the Milton Keynes Thunder to Wales on Saturday.

The Bees will be looking to get back to winning ways on Sunday but the Fire will prove a tough opposition blending youth and experience well and with two familiar faces to Bees fans in the shape of Nicky Chinn and Brad Watchorn.

We hope to see a good home support from the Bees fans and look forward to welcoming the Fire fans to The Hive for the first time, with that in mind we have some key points for new visiting fans to please note for Bees games:

  • There is an “away” section in Block 2 downstairs where away fans tend to congregate and sit together however you are welcome to purchase tickets through the rink reception on the match night or by calling 01344 789000 for seats in the upper balcony area.   You will need to specify at the time of purchase.
  • Most of the balcony blocks have a large amount of season ticket seats within them that are already reserved so please be aware of this when taking your seat, if you are sitting in a season ticket holder seat without the ticket for that seat you will be asked to move to the correct seat.
  • It should be noted too, that due to the license held by the rink, that although alcohol is sold in The Bees Knees bar it can only be taken out to the seated balcony area and is not permitted downstairs within the rink at all.
  • The rink is also a no smoking building so you will need to leave by the front door during period breaks if you wish to smoke and you will need your ticket to regain entry.
  • The other general rink rules such as no flash photography, waiting for a break in play before moving around the rink, no foul or abusive language etc… are, as with all rinks, also in place.
  • Our Supporters Club run a merchandise stall in the main foyer and upstairs at the back of Block 5 (opposite the bar) there is also the Supporters Club shop.   Merchandise, programmes, 50/50 tickets etc.. are all available at these two locations on a match night.
