Weekend Preview - Week 6

posted 20 Oct 2017, 10:52 by john slater

The sixth weekend of regular season action for the Bracknell Bees sees them back with a two game weekend.   It starts on the road away to the London Raiders on Saturday (5.30pm faceoff) before the team return to The Hive on Sunday to take on the Invicta Dynamos (6pm faceoff).

Last weekend saw the Bees lose out in their only game of the weekend, but still pick up an important National Cup point, at The Hive as their visiting local rivals the Basingstoke Bison edged the win after overtime and sudden death penalty shots.

The Bees have been on a good run of form recently and will be looking to continue that this weekend however both London and Invicta are sure to prove to be tough opposition for them.

The London Raiders, playing out of their temporary home in Lee Valley, have started the season with four wins and five losses in their first nine games (both league and cup) and only a couple of weekends ago put a big win over the Invicta Dynamos by ten goals!   A physical, tough and hardworking team the Raiders will be tough to break down as they look to follow up their big win over the Cardiff Fire last game out.   History shows away games against the Raiders always prove tough and the Bees will need to be cautious on the road this Saturday.

A tight 2-1 win over the Milton Keynes Lightning last Sunday saw the Invicta Dynamos pick up only their third win of the season so far however they certainly should not be underestimated having also picked up a overtime win against the Swindon Wildcats in mid-September.   Another hard working, tough and tenacious side the Bees will need to match the Dynamos work ethic to prevail on home ice at The Hive on Sunday in what is likely to be a feisty and entertaining encounter.

We hope to see a good home support from the Bees fans and look forward to welcoming the Invicta Dynamos fans to The Hive and with that in mind we have some key points for new visiting fans to please note for Bees games:

  • There is an “away” section in Block 2 downstairs where away fans tend to congregate and sit together however you are welcome to purchase tickets through the rink reception on the match night or by calling 01344 789000 for seats in the upper balcony area.   You will need to specify at the time of purchase.
  • Most of the balcony blocks have a large amount of season ticket seats within them that are already reserved so please be aware of this when taking your seat, if you are sitting in a season ticket holder seat without the ticket for that seat you will be asked to move to the correct seat.
  •  It should be noted too, that due to the license held by the rink, that although alcohol is sold in The Bees Knees bar it can only be taken out to the seated balcony area and is not permitted downstairs within the rink at all.
  • The rink is also a no smoking building so you will need to leave by the front door during period breaks if you wish to smoke and you will need your ticket to regain entry.
  • The other general rink rules such as no flash photography, waiting for a break in play before moving around the rink, no foul or abusive language etc… are, as with all rinks, also in place.
  • Our Supporters Club run a merchandise stall in the main foyer and upstairs at the back of Block 5 (opposite the bar) there is also the Supporters Club shop.   Merchandise, programmes, 50/50 tickets etc.. are all available at these two locations on a match nights
