Weekend Preview - Week 8

posted 3 Nov 2017, 01:58 by john slater

The eighth weekend of regular season action for the Bracknell Bees sees them once again with a two game weekend, both NIHL Div1 South league games.   It starts with a rare Saturday home game at The Hive when the Bees take on the Cardiff Fire (6pm face-off) before hitting the road on Sunday to travel to
Gillingham to face the Invicta Dynamos (5.15pm face-off).

Last weekend was a split one for the Bees who lost on the road in the National Cup Group D at the Swindon Wildcats before returning home to The Hive on Sunday to defeat the London Raiders in league action.

The Cardiff Fire are, eleven games into the season, still seeking their first points of the season - however this just adds to the fact that they are a team that should not be underestimated or taken lightly as they are sure to be looking to get off and running.   A hardworking team, the Fire have already faced the Bees twice this season and following a heavy defeat last time they visited The Hive they proved a tougher nut to crack a couple of weeks later on their home ice.   The Bees will be looking to start their weekend off well in front of their home crowd on Saturday and will need to maintain discipline and convert their chances to give themselves the best opportunity to take the win.

Sundays road trip to Gillingham will be the second match up between the two sides this season, it was only two weekends ago that the Bees and Dynamos faced off against each other for the first time this season and the Dynamos pushed the Bees all the way, taking the game into Overtime at The Hive.   The Bees sealed the two points with an overtime blast from NIHL South 1 (Britton) Player of the Month Frantisek Bakrlik.   Although the Kent side only have one win in their last ten games that certainly does not tell the full story at all.   The defeats, for the most part, have been narrow and the Dynamos certainly know how to find the net as well as play a tough game.   The trip on Sunday will prove a stern test for the Bees side.

We hope to see a good home support from the Bees fans and look forward to welcoming the Cardiff Fire fans to The Hive and with that in mind we have some key points for new visiting fans to please note for Bees games:
  • There is an “away” section in Block 2 downstairs where away fans tend to congregate and sit together however you are welcome to purchase tickets through the rink reception on the match night or by calling 01344 789000 for seats in the upper balcony area.   You will need to specify at the time of purchase.
  • Most of the balcony blocks have a large amount of season ticket seats within them that are already reserved so please be aware of this when taking your seat, if you are sitting in a season ticket holder seat without the ticket for that seat you will be asked to move to the correct seat.
  •  It should be noted too, that due to the license held by the rink, that although alcohol is sold in The Bees Knees bar it can only be taken out to the seated balcony area and is not permitted downstairs within the rink at all.
  • The rink is also a no smoking building so you will need to leave by the front door during period breaks if you wish to smoke and you will need your ticket to regain entry.
  • The other general rink rules such as no flash photography, waiting for a break in play before moving around the rink, no foul or abusive language etc.… are, as with all rinks, also in place.
  • Our Supporters Club run a merchandise stall in the main foyer and upstairs at the back of Block 5 (opposite the bar) there is also the Supporters Club shop.   Merchandise, programmes, 50/50 tickets etc. are all available at these two locations on a match nights
